In
Loving Memory
of
Rufus “Sandy” A. MacDonald
67 years
Passed away from cancer on Friday, April 12th, 2019 at the Maison McCulloch Hospice with his loving family by his side.

Predeceased by his wife Lila (nee Guyatt) in 2002 and partner Susanne Allin in 2013. Survived by his loving partner Lise Larochelle. Proud and devoted father of Everest (Valerie) & Chantal. Predeceased by his parents John & Margery MacDonald (nee Purdy) and brother Shane. Brother-in-law of June Hall. Cherished Uncle Sandy of Robert (Kathy) and Laura (Darrell) and Great Uncle Sandy of Sean (predeceased), Josh (Sandra), Rachel (Jordan), Alan, James (Abby) and Amanda. He will be sadly missed by many friends and family members. He found a loving circle of friends in the 70’s club, from which he will also be greatly missed.

Sandy was an active member of All Nations Church and a devoted member of the community. He was a board member of Crime Stoppers, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Landmark, Habitat for Humanity, Nickel Basin Federal Development Corporation and Greater Sudbury Housing Corporation. Sandy was an adventurous world wide traveller who enjoyed hiking, camping, and paddling. In his youth he spent months travelling through Africa and climbing Mount Everest & Annapurna, following which he became a proud RCMP officer in Saskatchewan. More recently he served on many mission trips in Belize, Haiti, and Ecuador. He and his family cherished many happy memories of adventures, time at the cottage and more recently on the many trips he took with Lise and his family. Sandy faced his illness and prognosis with grace, courage, and composure – always caring first for his family and friends.

Sandy was incredibly grateful to the many people involved in his care. His family sends their heartfelt thanks to the family & friends for their lovely visits and to the doctors, nurses and staff at Health Sciences North, Northeast Cancer Centre and Maison McCulloch Hospice for their excellent care and compassion. Foremost we thank the Lord Almighty for His everlasting grace.
