Obituary for Kaethe Stoerk (Bartels)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kaethe (Bartels) Stoerk (96) on June
6, 2019. Kaethe was born August 27, 1922 in Bremerhaven, Germany. Oldest daughter of
Heinrich Bartels and Margrete Bartels (Schnelle). Predeceased by her husband Heinrich (Henry)
Stoerk (December 26, 1988). Kaethe immigrated to Canada in 1952 and married the love of her
life Henry in Sudbury, Ontario May 14, 1952. Kaethe and Henry had one daughter Margaret-
Husband Danny Johnston and two grandchildren Katherine and Christina- Husband James
O’Hara.
Kaethe had five brothers all in Germany; Heinrich (Hein), Herman {predeceased}, Ernst,
Wilhelm (Willi) {predeceased}, Johannes (Hans) {predeceased}, and many nieces and nephews in Germany.
Kaethe had one sister Margrete- Husband Tom Cason from Long Island New York. She
had great love and affection for them. They were always so supportive of each other. She had two
nephews and a niece from New York who she loved dearly and their families. James Cason-wife
Gabriella, children James Jr. & Nicole. Tom Cason Jr. – wife Lourdes, children Nicholas, Tommy
Jr. (TJ) and Ella. Cathy-Husband Richard Lerner children- Sarah-Cate and Courtney.
Kaethe loved her niece Karin Hunnie (predeceased) in Winnipeg, Husband Don- Wilma,
great nieces Connie-Husband Mark Romas & son Carson, and Sheri-Lynn-Husband Dave
O’Brian, children Jacob & Maddison of Edmonton.
Kaethe moved from Sudbury to Burlington in 1999 to be with her daughter and family,
eventually enjoying her winters in Naples, Florida.
Kaethe was foremost a wonderful, caring and dedicated wife, mother and Oma. She loved
nature and animals. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and vegetables. She devoted her
life to caring for her family. She was a gentle soul who was always warm and
compassionate. She thought kindly of others and she was liked by anyone who knew her. She was
the true testament of a great human being.
Kaethe will be buried next to her beloved Henry at Civic Memorial Cemetery in Sudbury,
Ontario.
