Obituary for Elda Anna Camilli (Vidori)

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Elda Camilli (nee Vidori) at Pioneer Manor on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the age of 82 after a lengthy battle with dementia. Elda is survived by her best friend and devoted husband of nearly 63 years, Ruggero, and her loving children Eugenio (Laura), Laura Martin (Gary), and Cristina, and adoring grandchildren Christopher, Michael (Tori), Andrew (Asja) and Stephanie. Elda was predeceased by her parents Giuseppe and Rachele Vidori. Also survived by her siblings Emilia Palman (Ermes), Linda Cesco (Emilio), Aldo Vidori (Luigina Balliana), and Rita Fantin (Alfonso), all of Italy. She will be fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law Rosa Camilli (Camillo, deceased), Vettulia Simionato (Franco, deceased), and by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends in Sudbury as well as in Italy. Elda was born in Vidor, Treviso, Italy. In 1957 she and Ruggero married in their hometown and then emigrated to Sudbury to begin their life together. While in Sudbury she liked to spend time cooking for family and having coffee with friends she had made and with relatives who also immigrated here. Throughout her years in Sudbury she engaged in many different jobs to help support her husband and growing family. She was a seamstress, food server at the Steelworkers Hall, daycare provider, and cook, most noticeably at the Northbury Hotel in the 80s and 90s, all while raising her three children. Once she and Ruggero retired they purchased property and built a beautiful cottage on Cutler Lake. She loved to be at the camp where she tended to her many flowers and where she loved to have Ruggero build things for her. Most precious to her were the times her grandchildren would visit her there. The family would like to thank the many staff at Pioneer Manor who tended to Elda’s needs the last six years.
